black and white photo of Debra Belack with a horse

Mrs. Belack was bitten by the “pony bug” at a young age, beginning to ride and compete at the age of 5 through the collegiate level.  From this early age, she learned the deep connection animals can bring and the life skills that they teach. Deb’s equestrian experience encompasses three disciplines of riding (English, Western, and Saddle Seat), driving, and halter/confirmation. She has training in judging at the 4-H level. Beyond horses, Deb has an equally long history in raising and showing multiple species of livestock, growing up on a small farm in Central Pennsylvania and was an active member of 4-H and FFA.  In addition to her experience with animals, Deb has approximately 20 years in the field of mental health where she specializes in children and supporting their families. Her extensive research and knowledge in child development is an asset to providing a positive experience for children and families at R&B Stable. Outside of her professional career, Deb enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and being involved in her community.

Mrs. Wise grew up on a small farm in Central Pennsylvania where she raised livestock, rode horses, and competed in both areas at local and state levels.  From an early age, she learned how agriculture is all around us and that the bond between animals and people are indescribable. Miss Jenny has approximately 30 years of experience working on a farm and raising animals. In addition, she has 10 years of experience creating STEM and experiential curricula about agriculture for PK-12th grade, teaching it in both the classroom setting and on the farm.  Miss Jenny has been an equestrian her entire life with experience in driving and English and Western disciplines.  She now enjoys teaching her equestrian knowledge with children. Due to her compellation of experiences, she also has experience as a barn and agricultural program manager. Miss Jenny is a 4-H livestock leader in Dauphin County and actively participates in local fairs and the Pennsylvania Farm Show.  Today she lives on a farm with her husband and two young sons.

Meet our Animals

Photo of Horse Johnny

La Johnathan Swift

“Johnny” is a breeding stock paint and has been lovingly owned by Deb and her family since being purchased as a weanling.  Now in his 30’s, Miss Deb and Miss Jenny have grown up with him as a member of their family. Johnny holds a special place in the hearts of those he has met in the past 33 years with his kind, quiet, and comforting personality.  He enjoys lounging for hours and being brushed.  His favorite food is grass (to the demise of his little equestrians).

photo of Rio

Paniolo

“Rio” is an American Quarter Horse in his teenage years.  He goes by many fitting nicknames such as “Curious George” and “Goofball” due to his playful attitude and silly personality.  Despite being playful in nature, Rio is a slow and steady mount.  He enjoys ranch riding, trails, and western and hunt seat pleasure.  His favorite treat is ginger snap cookies.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Whiskey” is a “Class B” Miniature Horse.  He is a favorite with the little ones and has taught many of our students the joys and fundamentals of riding.  Prior to coming to R&B Stable, he was rescued from an auction kill pen.  He is estimated to be in his teenage years and enjoys any treat the kids offer him. Whiskey is an absolute saint and we couldn’t love his sweet, go with the flow, lovable personality more!

April Beauty

April” is a registered Miniature Horse in her 20’s.  She has been a part of Deb’s family since 2006.  Being the only mare in the barn, she is the queen in charge, keeping all the other horses in line.  April enjoys hours of love and affection from children, giving lead-line lessons, doing agility courses, halter work, and line-driving.  Her favorite treat is candy canes.

photo of Polly the Pig

Polly

“Polly Pig” is a KuneKune (the smallest of domesticated pigs) and approximately three years old.  She is the Stable’s version of a dog.  She can be found wandering around the property, lounging in front of her fan, or getting lots of pats and scratches.  Polly enjoys playing with toys with the students and learning new tricks. Her favorite treats are cinnamon gram crackers and potato chips.
